I'm a full-time freelance journalist reporting on people, places, and products: culture, travel, religion, nature, business, technology and cities.
My writing appears in Time, The New York Times, NewYorker.com,
The Guardian, The Economist, Mental Floss, Entrepreneur & Fortune.
I'm also a contributing writer for Smithsonian and Sojourners and write the San Francisco listings for Centurion.Sometimes, I work as an editor. Most recently, I was the first and only
Managing Editor of the bijou, biweekly digital publication The Magazine.
I'm also a photographer. My photos accompany my articles published in Islands, Modern Farmer, Interior Design and Spirituality & Health.
Hearkening back to my early roots in radio, I've also appeared as a guest on
American Public Media's The Story.
I live in downtown San Francisco with my husband, Andreas Haugstrup Pedersen. I received my master's degree from Emerson College in 2008.There's more if you want it »
